❝ Cherry Culture Purchase
( posted on September 12, 2013 @ 10:25 PM )
I've been meaning to make this post for a while now, but just got really busy...and lazy. A couple of months ago, I made my first purchase on cherryculture.com. I originally went to this site because I was looking for a good long-lasting eyeliner. I saw pretty good reviews for the Milani Liquif-eye eyeliner and many people said that this was comparable to the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner. Cherry Culture was the best place to get them because the Milani products were decently priced and shipping didn't cost me an arm (because I live in Australia and it's hard to find affordable shipping). Plus, I couldn't find the Milani products in Australia :(
MILANI Liquif-eye and Liquid-Like Eyeliners in Black and Brown
So the first product I added to my basket was the Milani Liquif-eye eyeliner in brown. This colour has little bits of shimmer in it, but not very noticeable. I also added a Milani Liquid -Like eyeliner in black because they didn't have it in the 'Liquif-eye'. The eyeliners look quite similar though - they might just be an older version/newer version of the other.
I don't usually tightline my eyes because I've had horrible experiences of eyeliner smudging everywhere. However, I did try tightlining with the black Milani pencil. After about 2-3 hours, it was still in tact but there were traces of it under my eye and also slight smudging. So I would say that it was better than any other pencil liner I've tried for tightlining, but I still wouldn't use it for this purpose.
I've tried both on my water-line and I was honestly expecting much better results than I had received. Both liners stayed on longer than any other liner I've had but there were reviews saying that it lasts practically all day long. This did not happen for me. One thing that I did do for the liner to last longer was to use a flat angled eyeliner brush to run along my water-line to help hold it in. This did seem to help the liner stay on for longer.

MILANI Smooth Finish Cream-To-Powder Makeup in Medium Beige
I wasn't originally planning to get this but I thought since I'm going to buy from this site and pay for shipping, it wouldn't hurt to add something else to the list.
I was first drawn in by the name 'cream to powder'. This sounded quite interesting and exciting. After looking at several reviews, I decided I was going to get it. BUT at this stage, I had a slight dilemma - what shade?! I've never seen the product in real life before so it was hard to choose the right colour. Now when I compare the colour from the product and the colour from the website, they do look quite different. I got the Medium Beige and the colour on the site looks more pink, whereas the colour of the actual product looks more yellow/brown.
When I tried it on my skin, I was very happy to see that it matched my skin quite well.
The product also comes with a built-in mirror and a flat sponge applicator. I do not usually use the sponge applicators that come with different powders and foundations. For this product, I used my Real Techniques buffing brush.
I love this brush, especially with this foundation. The brush's soft and dense bristles help to blend the foundation in very well.
Here is a comparison on my face.

As you can see, the foundation was able to cover up my redness and also just cover up my pimples on my chin.
I am quite happy with the results from this foundation. It was able to do what it claimed - changing from cream to powder.
As for the scent/smell of the makeup, some people might not like the smell. For me, I don't mind it. The smell reminds me of the smell of cheap cream foundation/concealer that I used to have when I was younger.

My Entire Purchase
With the purchase, I was able to get a discount of 20% because it was the Memorial Day Sale. I also got a free Cherry Culture lip balm because I spent over a certain amount. I chose the Grape scented lip balm. The lip balm has a subtle sweet scent and is moisturising. I'm not sure if I would pay full price at $1.99 for it though. However, Cherry Culture always has specials on this lip balm. I think I prefer my Maybelline Babylips that I get for around the same price when they are on sale.
I won't give a rating for the lip balm because I've only used it once.
My entire purchase from CherryCulture.com
Overall, I was happy with my purchase. My package came within a reasonable amount of time (I think it was about 2-3 weeks). That's pretty good if it's all the way from the USA.
Thanks for reading my blog and I hope you have found this information helpful. If there are any products that you would recommend me try - especially good long-lasting eyeliners, please let me know in the comments.
