❝ Crochet Crop Pairing
( posted on November 9, 2013 @ 8:26 PM )
So I have this crochet crop that I've worn with many different bottoms -
usually with maxi skirts. However, I didn't want to wear the same thing
again today and wanted to try it with something different. So then I
thought: 'maybe I could try something shorter'. This was the end result (please excuse the quality and the dirty mirror):
Crochet top: Chica Booti (bought on sale) Skater skirt: Cotton On Sandals: De Lourve (Market City, Sydney) Phone case: eBay (for iPhone 5) Yep...I have now started wearing this crochet top with shorter bottoms. As for my face: Concealer: Maybelline Fit Me concealer in Sand Sable 20 Brows: Rimmel eyebrow pencil in Hazel Eyes: Maybelline Master Precise liquid liner in Black (top); Milani Liquid Eye pencil liner in Black 01 (bottom) Lips: Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede lipstick in Fashionista 080 Except for the lipcolour, everything else is what I would use on a daily basis Emma x ❝ Cherry Culture Purchase
( posted on September 12, 2013 @ 10:25 PM )
I've been meaning to make this post for a while now, but just got really busy...and lazy. A couple of months ago, I made my first purchase on cherryculture.com. I originally went to this site because I was looking for a good long-lasting eyeliner. I saw pretty good reviews for the Milani Liquif-eye eyeliner and many people said that this was comparable to the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner. Cherry Culture was the best place to get them because the Milani products were decently priced and shipping didn't cost me an arm (because I live in Australia and it's hard to find affordable shipping). Plus, I couldn't find the Milani products in Australia :(
MILANI Liquif-eye and Liquid-Like Eyeliners in Black and Brown
So the first product I added to my basket was the Milani Liquif-eye eyeliner in brown. This colour has little bits of shimmer in it, but not very noticeable. I also added a Milani Liquid -Like eyeliner in black because they didn't have it in the 'Liquif-eye'. The eyeliners look quite similar though - they might just be an older version/newer version of the other.
I don't usually tightline my eyes because I've had horrible experiences of eyeliner smudging everywhere. However, I did try tightlining with the black Milani pencil. After about 2-3 hours, it was still in tact but there were traces of it under my eye and also slight smudging. So I would say that it was better than any other pencil liner I've tried for tightlining, but I still wouldn't use it for this purpose.
I've tried both on my water-line and I was honestly expecting much better results than I had received. Both liners stayed on longer than any other liner I've had but there were reviews saying that it lasts practically all day long. This did not happen for me. One thing that I did do for the liner to last longer was to use a flat angled eyeliner brush to run along my water-line to help hold it in. This did seem to help the liner stay on for longer.
My rating for both Milani eyeliner pencils in Black and Brown:

MILANI Smooth Finish Cream-To-Powder Makeup in Medium Beige
I wasn't originally planning to get this but I thought since I'm going to buy from this site and pay for shipping, it wouldn't hurt to add something else to the list.
I was first drawn in by the name 'cream to powder'. This sounded quite interesting and exciting. After looking at several reviews, I decided I was going to get it. BUT at this stage, I had a slight dilemma - what shade?! I've never seen the product in real life before so it was hard to choose the right colour. Now when I compare the colour from the product and the colour from the website, they do look quite different. I got the Medium Beige and the colour on the site looks more pink, whereas the colour of the actual product looks more yellow/brown.
When I tried it on my skin, I was very happy to see that it matched my skin quite well.
The product also comes with a built-in mirror and a flat sponge applicator. I do not usually use the sponge applicators that come with different powders and foundations. For this product, I used my Real Techniques buffing brush.
I love this brush, especially with this foundation. The brush's soft and dense bristles help to blend the foundation in very well.
Here is a comparison on my face.
Left: With rest of makeup Right: Editing using iPhone app
As you can see, the foundation was able to cover up my redness and also just cover up my pimples on my chin.
I am quite happy with the results from this foundation. It was able to do what it claimed - changing from cream to powder.
As for the scent/smell of the makeup, some people might not like the smell. For me, I don't mind it. The smell reminds me of the smell of cheap cream foundation/concealer that I used to have when I was younger.

My Entire Purchase
With the purchase, I was able to get a discount of 20% because it was the Memorial Day Sale. I also got a free Cherry Culture lip balm because I spent over a certain amount. I chose the Grape scented lip balm. The lip balm has a subtle sweet scent and is moisturising. I'm not sure if I would pay full price at $1.99 for it though. However, Cherry Culture always has specials on this lip balm. I think I prefer my Maybelline Babylips that I get for around the same price when they are on sale.
I won't give a rating for the lip balm because I've only used it once.
My entire purchase from CherryCulture.com
Overall, I was happy with my purchase. My package came within a reasonable amount of time (I think it was about 2-3 weeks). That's pretty good if it's all the way from the USA.
Thanks for reading my blog and I hope you have found this information helpful. If there are any products that you would recommend me try - especially good long-lasting eyeliners, please let me know in the comments.

( posted on July 26, 2013 @ 12:07 PM )
Last night, I went rock climbing for the first time with my friends. No, not climbing actual rocks - indoor rock climbing. I've been past this place quite a few times already in Villawood called the Sydney Indoor Climbing Gym Villawood.
Before you can start, have to print out a waiver and fill it in/sign it, or if I remember correctly, you can also do that at the gym on the tablets right when you enter.
When I first got there, I was a bit overwhelmed but also amazed at how big and high up the gym was. There were many different sections and also quite bright(the lights) and colourful. If you're new to rock climbing, the staff teach you how to use the equipment safely and correctly. We were then able to pair up and begin climbing! I thought it was a very fun and exciting night. A little scary, I might add! As I am scared of heights, I didn't feel comfortable climbing up too high - only reaching a third way up the wall, whereas everyone else was able to go up at least half way. It's ok though. I will become more confident once I've been there a few more times.
There was also another part of the gym called 'caving', which is really just like a tunnel you move through. There are different levels which obviously means it gets harder to get in and out. Of course, the first level is a straight tunnel. We brought our phones with us to use as light to guide us. I think this activity was really nice because my friends were all communicating to each other and letting the ones behind each of us know what to watch out for and making sure we didn't fall on each other.
Now, about the pricing (this is for casual visits):
Adult:
$22
Student:
$20
Under 12:
$16
Under 6:
$11
Family:
$65
Please note: if it is your first time, it will cost you more for joining fees.
I would recommend that you go as a group of at least 10. This way, it would come down to $15 per person, inclusive of fees. It would also be better to book time and date beforehand.
On the day, we had issues with people cancelling last minute, which meant we were down to 8 people. My friend who booked called them up and told them the situation. Fortunately, we were still able to go and get the same price. The staff were so helpful and really shows that they care about providing the best for their customers. Here are some photos of the gym: Just a warning: if you go caving, be prepared for some tight spaces and also bruises on your arms and legs (unless you bring knee pads and arms pads). Overall, it was a great experience - worth the bruises. Will definitely return for some more rock climbing and caving. Emma x Labels: exercise, recreation, rockclimbing ❝ Meet My Cat: Bobo
( posted on May 1, 2013 @ 12:35 PM )
As you may or may not know, I have a cat named Bobo. He turned one a few months ago in December. I don't think I've ever shared with you his cuteness. Of course, pictures will never compare to the real thing as he is much much much more adorable in real life and you really can't resist hugging this fluffy ball of fur! *Mhm* I will now stop proving myseld as a crazy cat lady and show you some pictures I took from a little non-official photoshoot with Bobo.
Yes, my cat likes to occasionally eat grass. Sometimes I joke and call him a cow. He would definitely fit right in. Just look at the colour of his fur! Haha.
![]() So after seeing these pictures, I think you would agree with me that Bobo has a bowl cut; a incredibly choppy bowl cut. If you would love to see more of Bobo in future posts, let me know in the comments! I might even try to add in some videos so that I can brainwash you into becoming a crazy cat person! Emma x ❝ My First Wedding
( posted on April 20, 2013 @ 7:00 PM )
Today, I attended my first wedding in Australia - that wasn't for family/ relatives. I was quite excited and really didn't know what to expect. The wedding was for my uni friend and his now wife!
The day started with the ceremony held in a Baptist church. Of course, everyone was just excited to see the bride. She had such a beautiful wedding gown on and obviously looked amazing!
The next part of the wedding was the reception. We listened to some emotional and funny speeches and watched a slideshow of the couple, which included some very cute baby photos.
The lunch was a buffet - and that's always good! Our table was last to eat so during that time, I went to take some pictures.
This was the wedding cake - how cute is it?! They're lamb versions of the couple because the bride loooves lambs.
I then ended up catching the bouquet! Only joking...the bouquet was left on the table and so I took the opportunity to take a picture of it and then edit it. The app is called 'colour effects' (for iPhones) and all you do is colour in the parts you want to show as colour. To end this post, I just want to say a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to the new couple. I hope you have an amazing life together for decades to come! Emma x Labels: wedding |
