❝ Cruelty-Free Products
( posted on March 1, 2016 @ 7:55 PM )
In the past year or so, I've been exposed to many posts, videos (watch at your own risk) and websites that promote cruelty-free products. This led me to research more about the process that goes behind animal testing, as well as brands that claim to be cruelty-free, but in fact are not.
Now I'm not saying you must only own cruelty-free products and that I will judge every person out there for not using cruelty-free products. I, for one, cannot guarantee that all the brands and products I own are against animal testing. If there is a cruelty-fee alternative, I'll definitely choose that over the other brands. I just want to share my knowledge with you so that you are aware of what you're buying as a consumer.
The best way to know whether a product is cruelty-free is to actually check the product. Usually, it would say so on the side or the back of the item. Some of the following images are examples of what you might find on the item if it is against animal testing.

Another way of knowing is to check the PETA website to see if a brand is cruelty-free.
So, after the seriousness of the above information, here are some of my favourite cruelty-free products.
Too Faced Chocolate Bar
This is the most delicious smelling eyeshadow palette I've ever bought. Not only is it visually appealing, it's also my favourite eyeshadow palette ever. My first branded eyeshadow palette I've purchased was Urban Decay's NAKED 2. I honestly failed to see the hype around the Urban Decay Naked Palettes because it did not live up to my expectations. Maybe it's because my skin is more on the tan side, so it doesn't show up as much as I would like. The Chocolate Bar, on the other hand, is much more pigmented and easy to blend. There's also a greater variety of colour available, which makes it that much more versatile.
NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Chocolate Crepe I'm kinda ashamed to admit that I actually own 12 of the NYX butter glosses. All but one were purchased on the same day in packs. They had a great deal at Target if you bought them in a 3 pack, and they were also 30% off. I got 2 regular butter gloss packs and 2 intense butter gloss packs. I have to say that the intense ones are much better because I prefer the high pigmentation in the glosses. Australis 'Tint my Brow' Brow Tint in Light Brown For the longest time, I searched for a coloured brow tint that did not contain any sparkles or shimmer. I hated the look of my Dolly Wink tint because every time that I tilted my head down and looked in the mirror, it looked like I didn't have eyebrows. I think it did that because the light reflected the shimmers and made it look like I had no brows. I FINALLY found Australis' brow tint and have loved it ever since. It makes my brows lighter, as my natural eyebrows are quite dark compared to my hair colour. Gerard Cosmetics Lipstick in 1995 My sister was the one who introduced me to Gerard Cosmetics. I was a bit iffy at first because I had never heard of the brand before. My sister wanted to make an order and asked if I wanted anything. She suggested that I get the 1995 lipstick, and so I agreed. I'm so glad I did get it because it's now one of my go-to lipsticks. It's perfect for everyday wear and I love the matte finish of it as well. Only downsides are that the smell of the product reminds me of cheap/old lady lipsticks and the light plastic packaging. However, they have slightly changed the packaging. It's now slimmer and the plastic packaging is actually heavier (so therefore means it feels more expensive) and has a nicer shade of gold. Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eye Liner Pencil in 05 Brown I actually did a lot of research before buying this eyeliner because I wanted an eyeliner that did not smudge. Every eyeliner I've ever owned has always betrayed me because of the smudging that I get from them. Many people recommended this eyeliner for its smudge-proof quality, and quite a few people even said it's a dupe for the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner. Now I don't know about the Urban Decay one (I have it but haven't opened it yet), but this Milani one still smudges. It just doesn't smudge as much as the others. I also love how creamy the formula is because it's extremely easy to apply. I hope this gives a great insight into some great cruelty-free products. I will continue to search for cosmetic products that don't test on animals, but I have also said that I'm going to stick to a product if I can't find a cruelty-free alternative for it. Emma x ❝ 2016

❝ iHerb and E.L.F.
( posted on December 31, 2013 @ 7:46 PM )
If you live in Australia, you would know how hard it used to be to purchase e.l.f products. Now, after high demand, e.l.f. cosmetics has their own Australian site. As with many other makeup products, they charge at least double of the US price. Well I'm here to tell you that there is a way to avoid paying too much!
A few days ago, my sister made a purchase from a website called iHerb. They are an American business based in California, selling mostly natural products. I know what you might be thinking - what about shipping prices?!? You'll be happy to hear that the shipping costs is a flat rate of $4 (weighing up to 1814 grams).
I know I didn't get much, but it's the first of many to come!
Contouring Blush & Bronzer in St Lucia - $3
I have to say that they are quite true to the colour in the tray and as you can see, quite pigmented! I normally use Australis' bronzer in sunkissed, but because my skin is tanned I feel that this elf one shows up more for me - and costed like a third of the price.
Lip Gloss/Stain in Red Carpet - $3
At first when I saw this product, I thought 'ok...another lip product...I'm definitely not using the gloss'. I love lipstains because of its lasting power but I definitely cannot stand gloss. It's all sticky and the glossiness makes my lips look like those of an inflated fish - not flattering at all. However, my sister saw good reviews on this stain because of its colour pigmentation and lasting power. So I decided to get it just for the stain.
I found the colour to be very pretty - my sister says it's the best red lip colour on me - and the stain itself has a nice velvety texture. I decided to use the gloss just at the centre of my lips because it's not good to waste product! I'm quite content in using the gloss as a kind of highlighter.
Of course, the colour will eventually fade and wear off. I used this on a trip with my friends to Sea Life and Wild Life parks in the city. I applied in on the train ride there in the early morning - ok, it wasn't that early. The colour stayed put throughout the next 2-3 hours exploring Sea Life. Once we reached lunchtime, we headed to Pancakes on the Rocks and had a late breakfast since we hadn't eaten in the morning. By the end of all the food, the lip colour had almost completely gone - except for the light rim around my mouth. It looked quite bad so I went to the bathroom to reapply.
So in conclusion, the lip stain has potential to last many hours. This is only possible if you're not eating or drinking.
Here is a picture about 2 hours after application:
Ok, after reading all that, I think you all deserve a clap. Haha only joking. I actually have a treat for you guys. I have a promo code for you to use that allows you to get a discount on your order. If you spend below $40, you can get $5 off your total purchase. If you spend $40 or more, you can get $10 off your purchase. Here is the code:

Enjoyy!
Oh! One last thing before I finish off this post. At the moment, with every order, you can receive a free sample from the list here. Limited to one free product per customer per order. If you order any more from the list, you will be charged the actual price of the product.

Emma xo ❝ What I'm Loving: Clogs
( posted on November 29, 2013 @ 12:27 AM )
I have noticed that clogs are back this summer and they're everywhere! Some online stores have a whole shoe category dedicated to just clogs.
I must admit clogs never used to appeal to me, so I never gave them a chance. Something this year, however, made me change my mind about them. Maybe I'm just more open to options these days.
The very first pair that I actually really wanted to buy were from Kmart. Not only were they $25, they were like the perfect shape and everything. Too bad - they always run out of my size. Why do I have to have such small feet?!
Then a week ago, Cotton On's Rubi Shoes was having a 30% of sale and I decided to get a pair there. They weren't my ideal style/shape but because I was buying another pair of wedges originally and needed to buy something else to get free shipping, I thought 'I might as well get something else'. So it was decided: I got the clogs above (the first pair). Originally, they were $39.95, but came down to $27.97.
I was very happy with this purchase. They are extremely comfortable and give me the height boost that I need; they are the two things I look for in shoes. What I also like is the fact that you can adjust the strap to your liking.
Here are the links to each pair of clogs (from left to right, top to bottom):
- Tony Bianco $99.95- Rubi Shoes $39.95 - Lipstik $59.95 - ASOS $286.50 - Windsor Smith $139.95

❝ Korean, Yogurt and Tea
( posted on November 13, 2013 @ 5:00 PM )
Today, I finished my third year of uni with an exam. What do we all do when we finish another year of uni? Celebrate with a feast! So we decided to go to Strathfield for Korean BBQ. I forgot the name of the restaurant though. I will add it in when I find out. What I love most about this restaurant are the cubed beef, pork belly and the potato mash side dish. I usually can't say no to potato but this potato mash was another kind of amazing! We then headed to Noggi for dessert - who doesn't eat frozen yoghurt when at Strathfield? My favourite flavour is biscotti because of its creamy, milky flavour. I also saw a new flavour that I had to try - coconut pandan (green). I usually don't like coconut flavoured food and much prefer the actual coconut, but I LOVE pandan! The coconut pandan flavour is now another favourite for frozen yoghurt. To top off the yoghurt, we got strawberries, watermelon and oreo pieces. The watermelon adds a crisp freshness to the yoghurt, while the oreo adds the crunch and sweetness, and the strawberries add a bit of sourness to balance the sweet.
While waiting for the yoghurt to be made, I noticed that Noggi now sells macarons. I did not have the money or stomach room to get it, but will definitely try it out next time.
Next stop, Hello Happy! This is a cute little cafe that feels very cosy and relaxing. There are cute paintings all over the walls. My favourite one was the panda near the back of the store. I saw many students in there studying, so I guess it's a good atmosphere to study. Although, I don't think I would be able to concentrate and study in such a public space - I need a quiet space. They have a range of interesting cakes and sweets but because we were so full, we just opted for some tea and spent the rest of the time chatting about life.
